10 Things You Didn’t Know About Mapetla

It is no doubt that Mapetla is one of the best Kwaito artists to emerge from Botswana. The man with a deep voice and sexy moves, is a favourite among the ladies. The Skhokho hit maker, Mapetla is relatively influenced by South African Kwaito feel, with a lace of house themes. He meteorically rose to stardom in the mid 2000’s with hits like “Hee wena” and “Shokho”.

1. His real name is Thabo Ntirang.
2. Mapetla is a businessman of note. He is the CEO and founderof his own record label, Petla’s Tavern Records.
3. After his third album S’buyile in 2007 was a failure, he fell off the music scene’s map. However, in November he came back in a big way with his album Electrified, which featured the song “Uyosala Wena.
4. His goal as an artist is to make music that is appreciated beyond just Botswana. He wants to make music that all Africans will love.
5. He has collaborated with fellow Kwaito star T.H.A.B.O to come up with a Kwaito album that has  helped resurrect Kwaito music this year.
