President Khama Recieves AFRIMMA Transformation Leadership Award
His Excellency President Ian Khama was nominated for the African Muzic Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) award by the Botswana Entertainment Promoter’s Association(BEPA). The 2nd AFRIMMA awards were held late last year in October, in Texas; United States of America, and some artists like Vee Mampeezy and Samantha Mogwe represented us.
His Excellency the President was chosen as recipient for the Transformation Leadership Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership in supporting the creative industry in Botswana. In accepting the award, the president indicated that he was receiving it on behalf of Batswana artists, who actually do all the work.
Well done Mr President, the rest is really upon the artists to ensure that they can compete globally. We hope arts in our country continue to be taken into consideration, as it is the livelihood of some youth out there.
