The SADC Secretariat invites suitably qualified, experienced, innovative, result oriented and self-driven individuals who are citizens of Botswana to apply for the Assistant Human Resources Officer position tenable at SADC Secretariat Headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Selection

•Assist with documentation, scheduling of interviews, reference and verification checks, Staff orientation and advice
•Provide general and ad hoc support to the Recruitment Officer as required
•Research and adopt best practices in own specialised area of work, and maintain high level of knowledge in order to effectively undertake the duties of the post

Human Resources Administration

•Assist with maintaining personal files and records
•Provide general support in salary and payroll administration
•Assist in Contract Management
•Assist in generating HRMIS Reports

Employee Relations

•Ensure that staff have access to HR policies, procedures and manuals
•Advise management and staff on employee relations, disciplinary and grievance handling to ensure compliance with the SADC Rules and Procedures.
•Interpret and administer employment contract with respect to grievances, wages and salaries, employee welfare, healthcare, pensions, association and management practices, and other contractual stipulations
•Organise logistics for, attend and provide support during hearings and advise on procedures for termination, grievances, disputes, claims, and disciplinary actions; draft documentation and recommendations for action, and submit to the Head for review; and follow-up on resolutions
•Provide administrative assistance to the Officer in consultations with Staff/ employee representatives

Learning, Development and PMS

•Assist in induction of new employees
•Organise and participate in Training Needs Analysis processing
•Organise and participate in PMS processing
•Provide training and advice

•The above are key functions, the detailed tasks and duties are outlined in the job descriptions.
•Employees will be rotated within the different HR Units as and when necessary.

Position Requirements

At least a Degree in Human Resources Management or related field

At least 5-7 years’ work experience in human resource management
