Botswana Joins The World To Commemorate World AIDS Day

Today as it is the norm, Botswana joins the rest of the world in marking World AIDS Day at Gaborone Senior Secondary School grounds. The event started with marches at 6:30 am from the following places: Molapo Crossing Mall, BBS Mall and Naledi Senior Secondary School to GSS grounds.  Official proceedings will follow at 8am .

The theme for the 2016 commemorations is Hands up for #HIVprevention . World Aids Day is commemorated each year on the 1st of December and is an opportunity for the nation to unite in the fight against HIV, show support to those infected and remember those who passed on as a result of this epidemic.

The Ministry will  have displays of Botswana’s efforts in the fights against HIV/ Aids and will be conducting demonstrations. People of all ages are invited to come and the public is encouraged to wear AIDS ribbon to show their support.
