BTC Premiership Season To Start This Weekend

The long anticipated BTC premiership season is set to start this Saturday 23rd of September with a mouth-watering fixture between defending champions Township Rollers and TAFIC at the magnificent Francistown Sports Complex at 15h30.

TAFIC, who will be buoyed by the soccer thirsty home crowd following their over 5 year absence from the elite league, will have their work cut out for them against the defending champions who are expected to continue where they left off last season.

TAFIC are a largely unknown quantity as there are fresh from promotion from last season’s hotly contested Debswana first division north. They have been relatively quiet on the transfer market, save for the reported addition of three Zimbabweans who are reportedly still awaiting work permits.

Township Rollers on the other hand have made significant additions to their already formidable team with the addition of among others others South Africans Mthokozisi Msomi and Tshepo Matete and are therefore expected to go into the game as favourites. Whatever happens in the 90 minutes, the city of Francistown is expected to be buzzing before and after the match as the two sides are traditional crowd pullers.

In other btc premiership fixtures slated for this weekend, last season’s Mascom Top 8 winners Orapa United will host newly promoted Flamengo Santos, Police XI will take on Gilport Lions in Otse, Security Systems will clash with BDF XI, Sharps Shooting Stars will slug it out with Extension Gunners whilst Sankoyo Bush Bucks welcomes Jwaneng Galaxy at Maun Sports Complex. Sunday’s fixtures will see Gaborone United host Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Molepolole whilst Black Forest take on Miscellaneous at Otse Police College.
