“I Am The Bravest Woman You Have Ever Met!”-Amantle Montsho

We couldn’t agree more with Amantle’s statement. Just last year, this  female sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres was given a two year ban for doping after testing positive at Commonwealth Games. She tested positive for the stimulant methylhexaneamine after the 400m final in Glasgow, where she finished fourth. Most people would have been down and out, but not Amantle.

brave.

She received a lot of negative lash from both locals and people from outside. The media was no better, she even made international headlines. In local news, it was stated that she was a drunkard who kept the wrong company. Earlier this year, our star decided to start training, much to the excitement of many. Whether she will start running or not, we still admire her resilience and the impact she continues to have on those who have fallen.

“There is beauty in a woman whose confidence comes from experiences,a woman who knows she can fall, pick herself up, and move on,” she told her fans. She seems to be in a perfect place, a place where she has accepted her flaws and moved on.

In 2010 Montsho was the first Botswana athlete to become a Commonwealth champion and a year later won her country’s first world championship gold. We will still continue to support her no matter the journey she takes. She did a lot for us a s a people.
