Maikano Serenaders celebrate 10 years

Maikano Celebrations left Maitisong theater hall blazing in fire when they celebrated their 10th year anniversary On Saturday. The choral group made up of the youth aged between 18-35 came on stage dressed in all blue and delivered a high flyer performance. The choir that was performing alongside South Africa’s male acapella group named Amici was a great marvel to watch and even a lot more marvelous to the ear.

Maikano was making a debut appearance with a new music director from the North West University school of music Sidwell Thibile. Thibile is also a reigning champion for the North West region which covers Botswana with North West University Choir for the National Choir Festival Competition held annually. The concert also honoured the music directors that have had to take the choir where it is currently namely Lekgotla Dingalo, Albert Mosime and Samuel Samuel.

Gabrone West choral group took to the stage difficult opera work from the extracts of Handel and Verdi among others. ElSutiamo was the song of the night in the western pieces category while Kwa Tshimong received heavy applause from the crowd. Maikano serenaders will be competing alongside South African choral groups in August in Klerksdorp.
