Respect

I personally find people or youth that speak ill of the president to be disrespectful and full of themselves. I don’t care if you are a member of the opposition or you are just downright looking for attention on facebook. Facebook is a social website that was invented for (UNDERLINE) social website. This whole issue of venting out your personal feelings about a leader of the state, and quite frankly couldn’t be further from the truth does annoy the daylights out of me. It is a crime to defame someone’s character.

In my understanding, it does not hurt to voice out our frustrations about the president, but if you do it with constructive critisism, it perfectly is acceptable. The president is the president for a reason. If you don’t want him, it’s as simple as getting together and making a difference by way of voting. If you don’t vote, you don’t get what you want. This notion of disrespecting the president annoys me. This statement is not a political thing, its not me supporting a certain party or not, because I vote for a leader that I believe in irregardless of political party. BATSWANA TLHONG BOTHO, respect your President the way you respect your parents. I don’t see you running to insult your parents. If you don’t like him, please vote him out, but don’t disrespect him the way I see people doing. Constructive critism is allowed with freedom of speech, don’t abuse freedom of speech by insulting the president and saying you are not allowed to talk. Its ok to say, “In my opinion, I think our president should attend the memorial service of Nelson Mandela, as a way of honouring Madiba from the nation of Botswana”. As opposed to what I see on facebook eg,”wa bo a le kae tautona wa lona, waitse kana ke matlhabisa ditlhong, a itele campchair ka gore o tla thaelwa ke space,” and I have seen someone having written that on facebook. How disrespectful are we getting as “banana mo Botswana!”. Quite frankly, I’m apalled by this.

I think the vision 2016 goals we have set for ourselves are just manipulated by disrespectful young generation. Charity begins at home, please do not reflect badly on your parents by being like that. Ame a kalo,

Disgusted,

Concerned Monana.
