The Nation Not Warming Up To The New Breakfast With Reg Presenter
Filling in the shoesΒ of a well known and established professional is not an easy thing. Reginald Richardson is undoubtedly one of the best investigative journalists to come out of Botswana, his show Breakfast with Reg where he gives politicians a hard time is one of the mostly listened to radio shows. He is currently on leave and Thato Dintwe is the one standing in for him, much to the disappointment of the loyal listeners of the show.
The new presenter, Thato had the opportunity to interview His Honourable The Vice President Mokgweetsi E.K. MasisiΒ on issues of national interest this morning, but did not live up to expectations. Clearly the young man was intimidated by the VP and on many occasions missed chances to interrogate Masisi on issues like media freedom in Botswana, he just agreed with most things that the vice president was saying.
Former editor of The Voice Newspaper, Pamela Dube-Kelepang had this to say about the new presenter on Facebook,Β “I always feel for stand-in talk show hosts/presenters, becauseΒ in the eyes of the usual host’s followers, new ones will never match. Its worse when the usual is ‘big’ with huge following. And I really feelΒ for the poor man who is relievingΒ Reginald Tiro Richardson on Gabz Fm. And he had to face ‘big guns’ in Dr Nasha and VP Masisi. While he had a soft/profiling “get to know you” Β the poor man lost the opportunity to engage the VP on pertinent issues.”
Breakfast with Reg is a Breakfast show that airs weekdays from 6-9 am, it deals with local and international current affairs issues as well as Small talk.
