Vacancy-Plant Bakery Production Manager

Job overview

Reporting to the Group Operations Manager, you shall have the responsibility to manage the Bakery business unit activities, ensuring that production targets are met at individual and collective levels.

Job objectives

  • Contributing to the formulation of the functional strategic plan, business plan and operating plan and managing Bakery performance in accordance with these plans.
  • Prepare functional performance-monitoring reports for the Group Operations Manager as required.
  • Contributing to continuous performance improvement and change management initiatives within the function.
  • In collaboration with other Group Functions ensure the effective development of new products for the Bakeries target market based on optimal capacity solutions.
  • Maximize production potential and operational efficiency of bakeries through the implementation of cost effective production processes.
  • Monitor and report on the availability of input materials (including packaging) through cost effective management of raw materials inventories and close liaison with suppliers.
  • Facilitating technical skills / capacity development, through training, coaching and counselling.
  • Making sure bakery staff comply with customer service and Food safety policies.
  • Managing performance of direct subordinates and ensuring performance management systems are systematically deployed in the section.
  • Accountability for compliance with organisational and statutory health, quality and safety policies and procedures in the provision of services.
  • Effectively addressing all risk and quality management issues in the department.
  • Overseeing inventory by ordering and rotating ingredients such as flour, sugar, fat and premix.

Qualification and Experience

The following are the minimum requirements for the position: The candidate;

  • Must have a Diploma / Advanced Certificate in Confectionary Management
  • Must have specialised training in Bakery or Confectionary practices.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft word and Excel.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of six (6) years post qualification experience in a similar position.

The candidate must also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be a self motivated team player; tough and demanding in respect of performance standards.
