As much as we do not have many media houses to cover news, social media has proven to be a medium that people can read headlines as well as make comments on how they feel about particular topics. As we are about to close 2015, we have narrowed down 10 headlines that were trending on social media, some newsworthy, others sad, hilarious and entertaining, go down memory lane and read for yourself.

1. The Naledi Snake.

Social media was abuzz last month when a 7 year old standard one pupil saw a giant snake grab her friend and went down the bridge with her. Soldiers, police and other rescuers worked the whole night trying to rescue the child, it was later found to be hoax.

2. Ausi Twar.

Golria Kgosi exchanged explicit tweets with one of her followers over a tweet in which she was not happy about the presenting skills of Sehurutshe. People were on her case on social media until she apologized, blaming the devil.

3. Thobo And Gaona.

They were the best celebrity couple to come out of Botswana, They enjoyed media coverage and had the nicest pictures on social media. Their divorce that cam unexpected this year shocked their fans. The fans are still divided over the issue and some are hoping for a reconciliation.

4. Zoro Beating Rudisha.

The 800m was once such a simple puzzle for David Rudisha and it used to have such a simple solution. Amos has finally got the recipe to beat Rudisha claiming the 800m race master. Rudisha has met Amos six times. And he has lost every single race.

5. Berry Heart For Dinner Or Nothing.

Berry Heart set tongues wagging this year after she unveiled the cover photo of the song on social media. In the photo, Berry Heart is naked while squatting down with her hands tied behind her back.  The picture was an immediate Internet sensation with her followers seemingly having mixed feelings and others posting memes of the image.

6. The Crowning Of Miss Botswana.

Once a gain a light skinned girl was crowned as Miss Botswana, and so many people did not take the news well. On social media people were complaining about how dark skinned girls were always sidelined when it came to crowning of the queen. It was so hot that Seneo stayed away from social media for some time.

7. Culture Spears Future.

After the divorce of the lead singers and founders of the group, social media went abuzz about the future of Culture Spears. Kabelo Mogwe failed to turn up for a show where Ekentolo and Culture Spears were scheduled to perform at Glen Valley on May 8, as Charma Gal appeared on stage alone for the first time.

8. Ntsoro’s Health.

The singer who has now turned into a pastor, got people talking on social media when he disappeared from the limelight. According to social media, the once bubbly television presenter has apparently checked in a local mental institute.

9. Matsetsenkane Gang.

This notorious gang is one of the most violent gangs to ever come out of Botswana, and it made headlines for quite a while from last year to this year. Moshupa residents lived in fear for their lives as this irresponsible gang committed criminal acts in the village. We are happy that now peace has since been restored.

10 Matsha Accident.

It was a sad day for Botswana as students were involved in a fatal accident last month. The news was first published on social media because the accident happened on Friday and most media houses  (Print) papers were already out. Fingers were pointed left right and center, and some celebrities reached out to help the affected.
