The President Addresses The 5th Africa Tourism Leadership Forum

This morning, His Excellency the president Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, officiated at the ongoing Africa Tourism Leadership Forum. The event is being hosted at the Gaborone International Conference Center (GICC), by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and scheduled to last three days, from 24th October 2022 to the 26th October 2022.

In his address, His Excellency the president saw the potential for growth in the Tourism sector locally. He noted that there is a new generation of tourists that is emerging, and said that it is necessary for policies formulated to strategically foster and facilitate, a conducive environment for businesses in the sector to thrive locally and compete internationally in catering for this market.

He went on to emphasize the need to working together, saying that forging partnerships and collaborations is key in the development of the tourism industry. He said that this is an opportunity to take advantage of technological advancements available, to facilitate the growth of the industry, enhancing the tourism value chains and unlocking the full potential of SMMEs.
