Disability Is Not inability, Tsogwane

“Disability is not inability”, said the Acting President Honourable Slumber Tsogwane applauding Choppies Group of Stores for leading the retail industry in employing people with disabilities in the country. His Honour said this yesterday during the 5th Choppies Long Service Awards in Gaborone.

Choppies does not only lead on employing the disabled but it is also the largest employer in the retail industry in Botswana. His Honour said, the Government always make engagements with international investors for them to come and invest in the country with the aim of job creation for Batswana to combart poverty and Choppies is making a remarkable contribution in combarting poverty and inequality by employing even the disabled.

The Acting President when giving a word of advice said that hard work takes one beyond their imagination. He therefore urged employees to work even harder for them to reap fruits.

The objective of the awards is to boost staff morale and improve staff performance. Choppies supports the Government’s efforts of preparing graduates for the world of work. They signed Memorandium Of Understandings with University of Botswana, Botho University and Limkokwin University.

Choppies has accommodated 250 interns from February 2017 of which 110 have been absorbed for permanent employment. A further 25 interns are expected to graduate this year and are guaranteed absorption when they complete their intenship.
