“Your silence speaks volumes” – Bagammagwato to Kgosi Sediegeng Kgamane

Bagammagwato are worried about their regent Chief, Kgosi Kgamane’s silence on issues surrounding Bangwato Chief His Excellency Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama.

The tribe expected their regent Chief to have called them to a kgotla meeting to talk about, and hopefully address the matter.

Having not heard a word from Kgosi Kgamane about the matter, Bagammagwato are left with more questions than answers, and demand the regent chief to address them as a matter of urgency.

“Your silence speaks volumes. May we hasten to remind you that this chieftainship belongs to him and you seem relaxed when he is being attacked from all angles? Are you waiting for something to happen before you call us? Who do you owe allegiance to? When do you intend to call us about this matter of life and death? We are disappointed by the silence of the Chief’s uncle.” reads the petition by Bagammangwato. The tribe wants Kgosi Kgamane to explain why he has been “quiet for so long whilst its Paramount Chief is under attack.”

According to the petition by Bagammangwato, some of the injustices which their Chief, Khama, has been subjected to include;

  1. Our Paramount chief has been subjected to ridicule intimidation and persecution for years.
  2. He has been stripped of his benefits as a former president
  3. He has had allegation after allegation hauled at him time and again
  4. Attempts have been made on his life has been made more than once
  5. Now he has disappeared and we more than worried about his well being

“We the people of Gammangwato demand explanations as to the situation pertaining to our Paramount Chief. We have observed that our Paramount Chief has been under attack since 2018 and you have never found it necessary to call us to his kgotla to brief us and seek our views on this important matter, or is it that you find this issue not of importance to you?” Bagammangwato demanded.

There has been a feud between the former president Khama, and the current president Masisi, with claims that the current is harassing, and intimidating the former.
Khama is currently out of the country, and Bagammangwato demand Kgosi Kgamane to tell where he is, and if he is well, as the are convinced he has answers to those.
