Khama pursue ‘Butterfly’ case further

The Former President of Botswana, His Excellency Lt. Gen Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has this morning lodged a formal charge against Hubona. Khama is accusing Jako Hubona, a leading investigator in the ‘Butterfly’ for a crime of perjury. Hubona of Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) is being accused of fabricating evidence which he submitted to the courts.

“I gave them my evidence, I gave them the reports that was done by a team of International investigators, the report that consists two hundred and eight (208) pages. Which goes into a great detail about every allegation proving it false as contained in Hubona’s affidavit” Khama proclaimed. The report also contains names of witnesses.

Further, Khama says he also asked them to investigate those who aided Hubona being the Directorate on Intelligence and Security (DIS) and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). According to Khama, the DPP’s role is to make sure that all the evidence brought to them holds water and is not fabricated, something they failed to go in the ‘Butterfly’case.

“For them to have participated and taken this to court as they had in the case of Butterfly as you all know, clearly indicates they are complicit in commiting this crime.” Khama charged.

He believes the DIS initiated the whole case of Butterfly against him and all those mentioned in the case. He and those mentioned in the case will follow the case up and make sure it is being investigated.

“When I was in office this could have never happened. The police, the DIS, the DCEC in my opinion were always a people of integrity, were always professional in how they carried out their work” he said.

Khama says the intention of the DIS’s in this is to undermine, discredit, make his life uncomfortable, and spoil his name.

“We are going to take this case as far as is necessary to reach its logical conclusion.”
