“Your Excellency and Dear Brother,
I wish to extend to you, Dear Brother, our sincere congratulations on your new appointment as President of the Republic of Namibia.

Your ascension to the highest Office of President, is a clear demonstration of the trust and confidence that the people of Namibia have in your able leadership, demonstrated over years of servitude as Vice President, Cabinet Minister, Member of Parliament and Secretary General of SWAPO, amongst others.

I have no doubt that with your illustrious political career and leadership, you will be able to steer the Namibian nation to greater heights of socio-economic development and prosperity.

I wish to commend the ruling SWAPO Party, the government and the people of Namibia, for the calm, orderly succession planning and transition of power we have just witnessed in your Swearing in ceremony.

As you assume the duties of the highest Office, allow me to take this opportunity to assure you of my personal commitment and that of my government and the people of Botswana, to work closely with you and your government in further strengthening and deepening the strong bonds of friendship and excellent cooperation that so happily subsist between our two countries and peoples.
