Honourable Tumiso Rakgare expressed gratitude to the UNESCO Secretariat
Minister Rakgare posited that following the approval of the new UNESCO mid term strategy and budget for 2022-2023, Botswana conducted workshops for the culture sector to share the UNESCO strategy as well as budget for 2022-2023.
Botswana also participated in the call for Convention Global Facilitators among ICH stakeholders.
Hon Rakgare expressed delight at the selection of 2 of University of Botswana Professors who are involved in the ICH implementation,who will undego training to join the 2003 Convention Global Facilitators Network.
Rakgare appraised the Secretariat on Botswana’s continued financial and technical support in the implementation of ICH programs and that a request for international assistance to implement the Safeguarding of Seperu Folklore and Associated Practices was submitted to the secretariat in March 2022 .
Hon Rakgare congratulated the UNESCO Secretariat chairperson His Excellency M Samir Addahre for his appointment.He also congratulated the people of the Kingdom of Morocco and the National football Team for a stellar performance against Belgium at the 2022 Qatar World Cup yesterday and wished them the best of luck going forward.
