The Kusi Ideas Festival came to an end on the 9th December 2023. Day 2 hosted a panel discussion on “Reflecting on Africa’s last 20 years and looking ahead to the next 20.” The discussion focused on opportunities for Africa going into the future. It has been suggested that the Kusi Ideas Festival be replicated in each country as many ideas could be shared that could transform Africa .

There has also been a call for the African Union (AU) to partner with festival organisers in order to solicit ideas from young people. Africans have been encouraged to change the narrative and rebrand Africa and to ensure positive messaging about Africa goes to the world in a way that truly depicts the continent.

It has been revealed in the 2-day event that in its second 10 year implementation plan, the African Union has conducted a situation analysis to establish where the continent (Africa) is coming from and its current status.

From the situation analysis AU came up with seven areas that needs to be worked on as follows; Enhanced inclusive equitable sustainable economic growth, enhanced implementation of the continent’s integrated frameworks, beneficiation, enhanced peace and security in totality, empowered Africa, strengthen Africa’s position and competitiveness and talent to feed Africa.
