The just ended Kusi Ideas Festival saw discussions on issues that could help transform Africa in the future into a global power house.

On the final day of the festival there was a discussion on how the youth could be part of Africa’s transformation agenda. Held under the theme “When African Youth Get Behind The Wheel,” the session gave the youth the opportunity to delibarate on issues.

With the youth being Africa’s greatest resource, the African Union Agenda 2063 recognises youth as a vital force to shape the future of Africa. It is expected that by 2030 the African youth will constitute 42% of the global population.

The youth therefore called on strategic up-skilling by learning institutions to balance the need with output. They spoke of a need for a curriculum peculiar to addressing Africa’s needs.

They are of a view that the youth must be well educated with the right skills. A call was also made for intitutions to fund reasearch as well as support growth of their alumniโ€™s.
