2 Batswana Nominated For The 2016 KORA Awards.

KORA All-Africa Music Awards, the African continent’s first and premier award ceremony in the musical arts has unveiled the nominees in the 26 categories for her 2016 edition. Botswana is surely a force to be reckoned with as we have two strong representatives in the next year’s competition. Makwakwa Cultural Ensemble has been nominated in the Best Traditional Group of Africa category for their song Re Dibini. One other talented gospel artist, Kabelo Eric has been nominated under the Best Male Spiritual for his song Kabiosi.

The organizers disclosed that the winners from every category would not only be going home with the coveted KORA plaques but also, cash prizes ranging from twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to a million dollars ($1,000,000).

The award ceremony taking place at the Windhoek Country Club in Namibia, on the 20th of March, 2016, has partnered with Sound city TV Africa as official Broadcast Media. The Award Ceremony, according to the organizers, will form part of the host country – Namibia’s annual National Day celebrations would be televised live on Sound city TV – Channel 327 on DSTV, GOtv Channel 75 and her digital platforms across 55 countries.

Voting starts on January 15 2016, so let us get ready to support our stars. We wish them all the luck in the world and are confident that they have enough talent to bring the awards home.
