URBAN POLICE HOLD DRUGS AND RELATED SUBSTANCES CAMPAIGN

Residents of White City, Bontleng and Extension 14 in Gaborone have been called to stay away from abuse of alcohol and drugs.
The call was made by No.3 Police District Traffic Officer, Superintendent Dominic Ntsholetsang at a Crime Prevention campaign on Anti-Drugs and Related Substance. The campaign was organised by Urban Police Station in conjunction with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) called Drug Free is the New Cool Organisation on Saturday (04/02/2023).

Mr Ntsholetsang said drugs such as dagga, cocaine and methcathianone (CAT) are a serious concern in the area and urged residents to refrain from using them. He said in most cases abuse of alcohol and drugs are the leading factors to the commission of offences such as rape, defilement, armed robbery, assault common. He emphasised that the substances can also have a negative effect on one’s health.

In her welcome remarks, Urban Customary Court President, Kgosi Patricia Radipati urged the residents to report people dealing in illegal drugs to the police as this will rid the community of such elements. She further pleaded with members of the community to cooperate and work together as a team to provide a drug free environment for their children.

The campaign was held under the theme, β€œAct now, stop drugs and substance abuse beyond 2036.” The campaign started with a walk from Urban Police Station, through Bontleng, White City, Extension 14 and back to Urban Police Station.
