The North East Region’s Director, Mr Labane Mokgosi, recently addressed Secondary School Heads in the region, focusing on operational issues affecting schools. The North East Region comprises 21 secondary schools, including 18 Junior Secondary Schools and 3 Senior Secondary Schools. The meeting provided an opportunity to align school leadership with Ministry policies and operational expectations.
Mr Mokgosi urged school heads to lead by example and uphold the highest ethical standards. He highlighted concerns over mismanagement of resources and poor accountability in some schools, emphasizing that transparency and responsible administration are critical for effective education delivery. School leaders were advised to comply with all data submission deadlines and to remain vigilant against corruption, maladministration, and other related challenges.
During the session, the Director outlined key Ministry policies and reinforced adherence to operational guidelines. He also commended the Ministry and Government for the continued provision of sanitary pads to learners, underlining the importance of supporting student well-being. Additionally, Mr Mokgosi stressed the upcoming implementation of the English Breakfast program across schools, aimed at promoting better nutrition and learning readiness among students.
The Director acknowledged schools in the region for improved performance in the recently released Junior Certificate Examinations. The North East Region recorded 7 merit passes out of the 43 national merit passes, reflecting the dedication of school staff and learners.
The meeting reinforced the Ministry’s commitment to ethical leadership, accountability, and holistic student support. School heads left with clear guidance on operational compliance, resource management, and initiatives designed to enhance both academic and developmental outcomes.
