Amantle Brown speaks on Motswafere’s arrest. The songstress took to her social media in support of singer and good friend Motswafere. “My best friend, do not despair, cheers to life, cheers to challenges and cheers to growth, I love you”.
Motswafere was last week arrested and charged at the Mogoditshane Customary court for being a “public nuisance”. This happened shortly after he was involved in a heated argument with an unnamed man who allegedly passed homophobic remarks forcing Motswafere to exchange some words in self defense. The matter was addressed swiftly and Motswafere was to take lashes on his back at the Mogoditshane Kgotla.
Due to medical reasons, he could not adhere to the punishment stipulations and was instead sentenced to 6 months in prison and fined P200.00. Brown and some members of the general public continue to support and sympathize with him, and are of the view that this was nothing more than an act of hatred towards a steadfast and active member of the LGBTQ community.
