President Boko warmly welcomed Ambassador Gormley and congratulated him on his appointment. In his remarks, the President underscored the longstanding cordial ties between Botswana and Ireland, expressing optimism about the potential for strengthening bilateral cooperation in strategic sectors. He specifically identified health, renewable energy, and research as key focus areas where the two nations could collaborate to mutual benefit.
“The Republic of Ireland brings a wealth of experience and innovation that aligns with our national priorities,” President Boko said. “Partnerships like these are critical as Botswana works toward achieving its vision of becoming a high-income, export-led economy powered by technology and knowledge.”
In response, Ambassador Gormley thanked President Boko for the honour of receiving his credentials and reiterated Ireland’s commitment to fostering closer ties with Botswana. He acknowledged the shared values between the two countries and highlighted Ireland’s readiness to contribute to Botswana’s development agenda.
