Zahara To Headline Mascom Live Sessions This Friday

Sometime back legendary Sipho Hotstixx Mabuse and Zimbabwean Oliver Mtukudzi graced the Mascom live sessions, on different dates of course. Another South African artist is expected to perform at the last edition of the live sessions this Friday.

The South African songbird, whose album, Mgodi went gold within hours of release earlier this month will perform at Botswana Craft on Β alongside Canadian based Jazz maestro, Trinity Mpho. The Mascom Live Sessions is known for bringing the best talent across the continent and overseas to perform at a place now popularly known as the place of Jazz.

Zahara made a great comeback with the much anticipated album this month, and within six hours of release, the album was certified gold. The hit-track, Mgodi is the third track on Zahara’s newly released comeback album and it’s arguably the best song on the album.
She might have been in the news for the wrong reason for a large part of 2017 but her album is surely something good for a South African music culture that has been polluted with weak projects this year. Warner Music South Africa’s marketing directorβ€š Adrian King, was quoted as saying that the album had sold over 16 700 physical copies and hundreds of digital copies within the first 24 hours of its release.

For an album to be certified gold 15 000 copies need to be sold. The paper reports that she will embark on a nationwide tour before heading to the US next year to promote her album. Botswana will remain the first African country to taste her new dose and through videos that went viral on social media, the Loliwe hit maker is looking forward to perform in Botswana.
