Francistown, Botswana – 19 May 2025 – The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) has launched a nationwide roadshow in Francistown, aimed at stimulating investment, promoting export opportunities within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, and driving economic diversification. Held under the theme “Driving Economic Growth Through Investment, Trade and Enterprise Development,” the roadshow is part of a broader strategy to empower local businesses and strengthen Botswana’s economic resilience.
The initiative targets Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), retailers, hotels, and producers, offering them access to crucial information and support services that can enhance their participation in regional and international markets. BITC officials are using the platform to educate participants about product listing requirements, focusing on packaging standards, regulatory compliance, and market readiness to meet the growing demands of both local and cross-border trade.
A central feature of the roadshow is the promotion of the PushaBW campaign, a national effort to encourage the consumption and procurement of locally made goods and services. Through PushaBW, BITC continues to advocate for increased support of Botswana products, underlining the campaign’s role in job creation, enterprise development, and national economic growth.
Francistown, one of Botswana’s key commercial hubs and a strategic link to the northern corridor, was chosen to launch the roadshow due to its vibrant business environment and geographic importance. Business owners in attendance welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and empowering, especially for those seeking to scale operations and enter new markets.
Participants were also given opportunities to network with various support institutions, including financiers and regulatory bodies, fostering new business linkages that are essential for growth. The roadshow will continue to other regions across the country, ensuring that entrepreneurs nationwide are equipped to contribute to Botswana’s vision of becoming a diversified, high-income economy driven by investment, trade, and enterprise development.
