Botswana National Front (BNF) Youth League President hopeful, Tumelo Legase, has urged the new government administration to prioritize the development of sports and creative industries as a strategic move to open job opportunities for the country’s youth. Speaking during a media briefing in Gaborone this morning, Legase emphasized the potential of these sectors to transform the economic landscape for young people.

Legase highlighted that many young Batswana possess skills in sports and creative fields such as music, arts, and digital media, which, if properly nurtured, could become sustainable sources of income. “Youth with talents in these areas should be empowered to make a living from their skills,” he stated.

He further underscored that investing in sports and creative industries could address the high unemployment rate among young people by providing alternative career paths outside traditional sectors. “Focusing on these industries not only creates job opportunities but also contributes significantly to the country’s economic growth,” Legase added.

The BNF Youth League President hopeful’s call comes at a crucial time as Botswana seeks innovative solutions to youth unemployment and economic diversification. By supporting sports and creative sectors, the government can harness the energy and creativity of young people, fostering a vibrant economy and empowering future generations.

Legase’s appeal stresses the importance of policy frameworks and funding that promote entrepreneurship, skills development, and infrastructure in these sectors. His vision aligns with broader national goals to create a more inclusive economy that offers diverse opportunities for all citizens.
