Health Worker Commended for Their Sterling Job

His Honour the Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane has commended health workers for their contribution towards the fight against HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

The Vice President made this aknowledgement when visiting Mokoboxane clinic during his tour of health facilities and schools in the area recently.

This followed Mokoboxane Clinic supervisor Tshwaranang Phillemon’s revealation that the clinic has a 100% supression rate among patients enrolled in the HIV/AIDS treatment programme. Phillemon further revealed that there is a 98% retention of those who are on the programme.

He also highlighted that the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) programme is a success because in the past five years there has never been a case of a child born with HIV in the area.

Vice President Tsogwane applauded the health workers for the good job they are doing saying their efforts are recognised internationally as Botswana continues to be celebrated for her achievement in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

He however acknowledged the challenges that they are faced with in their service provision. Such challenges include shortage of personnel, resources as well as accomodation.

The Vice President assured them that their concerns would be addresed because his visit was a fact finding mission to appreciate their challenges and see how best they could be addressed to improve thier working conditions.
