“Botswana is my second home”- Cassper Nyovest

“It’s gonna happen, definitely.” Cassper assured “Botswana is my second home. Botswana started booking me before South Africa started taking me seriously. I used to get on a taxi to go perform in the festival and I am the highlight, but I’m on a taxi” he passionately expressed.

The South Africa prominent and celebrated rapper, Cassper Nyovest said in an interview with Pearl Thusi in her show “Behind The Story” that his #FillUpBotswana plan still stands. The ‘Doc Shebeleza’ hitmaker is well known for being the first South African musician to fill up the First National Bank (FNB) Stadium in Johannesburg. Nyovest made history in December 2, 2017 when he performed for approximately Sixty-eight thousand (68 000) fans. The first musicians to fill up the stadium was Irish rockers in 2011 when they attracted over Ninety thousand (90 000) music lovers for the fifth leg of the 360° Tour.

Before the big occasion at FNB Stadium, which the event organizers said about Seventy-two thousand (72 000) out of Seventy-five thousand (75 000) tickets were sold, the artist performed other #FillUp events. The rapper filled up Twenty thousand (20 000) seater TicketPro Dome in 2015. The following year he doubled up the challenge when he filled up Orlando Stadium, selling approximately Forty thousand (40 000) tickets. Nyovest shared the stage with Babes Wodumo, Kwesta, Ricky Rick, A-Reece, Distruction Boyz, Nadia Nakai among other artists at Orlando Stadium.

Mufasa, as he is passionately called by his followers, says he values unity amongst local artists, evidenced by the number of artists he has worked with, and those he reached out to. According to Cassper Nyovest, filling up the FNB Stadium should not end with him, other artists must also be supported to do the same. “I always say ‘support South African Music’, they say, ‘but we support you, we go to the stadiums’. I’m not talking about me, I’m blessed. Everybody should get a chance; every South African artist should get a chance to fill FNB Stadium. That’s how it must be.” he proclaimed.
