The Botswana Police Service (BPS) was among the many participants that made a strong impression at the 29th Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair held in Francistown, drawing attention for its informative and interactive stall. The annual trade fair, a key event in Botswana’s business calendar, once again attracted a large turnout from the public, businesses, and government institutions alike.

One of the highlights of the event was the visit by the Acting President of the Republic of Botswana, Mr Ndaba N. Gaolathe, who took time to tour the exhibition grounds. During his visit, Mr Gaolathe stopped by the BPS stall, where he was briefed on various services provided by the police and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening public safety and community engagement.

The BPS team used the opportunity to engage with members of the public, providing detailed insights into their operations, crime prevention strategies, and technological advancements in law enforcement. Visitors to the stall were particularly drawn to demonstrations on crime reporting procedures, cybercrime awareness, and the use of digital platforms to enhance service delivery.

Speaking at the stall, BPS representatives emphasized their commitment to community policing and transparency. They highlighted the importance of maintaining close relationships with the public to build trust and improve security outcomes across the country.

The trade fair provided a valuable platform for the BPS to interact directly with citizens and stakeholders, reinforcing the message that safety and security are shared responsibilities. Officers also distributed educational materials, responded to public inquiries, and encouraged young attendees to consider careers in law enforcement.

Mr Gaolathe’s visit was seen as a strong endorsement of the BPS’s efforts to modernise and remain accessible to the public. His presence underscored the government’s recognition of the critical role that security agencies play in facilitating a stable environment for business and community growth.

As the 29th edition of the Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair wrapped up, the BPS emerged as one of the key contributors, using the event not only to showcase its services but also to foster community partnerships. The success of their participation highlighted the value of continued outreach and the growing importance of police visibility in non-traditional spaces like trade and development expos.
