Speaking at the Africa Mining Welcome Reception in Cape Town on Sunday evening, Minister of Minerals and Energy, Honourable Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, emphasized that Botswana remains open and ready for business. She highlighted key government policies aimed at strengthening investor confidence, including a stable, transparent, and investor-friendly environment that supports sustainable growth in the mining sector.
Minister Kenewendo addressed delegates alongside South Africa’s Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Honourable Kenny Morolong, stressing the importance of deeper collaboration among African nations to unlock the continent’s full economic potential. She noted that coordinated efforts, particularly in strategic mineral management and infrastructure development, are essential for creating value across Africa. The Minister also took part in a high-level panel discussion with regional industry leaders, including Mr Mulumba Lwatula of Zambia’s Industrial Development Corporation and Transnet Board Chairperson, Dr Andile Sangqu, focusing on critical minerals, integrated infrastructure, and coherent continental policies to drive sustainable development.
