Botswana is beaming with pride following the remarkable performance of five young girls at the recently concluded Junior Idol World competition held in Bangkok, Thailand. The event, which brought together talented youth from across the globe, saw Botswana’s representatives return home with multiple accolades, showcasing both their talent and the country’s growing presence in international pageantry.
Marang Isago Sapelo stood out as one of the competition’s top performers, earning the title of first runner-up in the Little Miss Junior Idol World category and walking away with the coveted Best Catwalk Award. Tanisha Leepile also made headlines, securing the second runner-up title in the Miss Pre-Teen Junior Idol World category while clinching the Best Sportswear Award.
Adding to Botswana’s success, Isago Ralethaka was named third runner-up in the Mini Miss Junior Idol World category and captured the Best Interview Award for her articulate and poised responses. Meanwhile, Katlego Matheakgomo was honoured with the Photogenic Award and named the Miss Pre-Teen Junior World Rising Star, affirming her charisma and visual appeal. Kalen Siti rounded off the outstanding performances by earning the Rising Star Award in the Little Miss Junior Idol World category.
Speaking after the team’s arrival back in Botswana on July 11, Junior Idol World Botswana National Director Lebogang Matheakgomo shared her heartfelt pride and admiration for the girls’ achievements.
“The girls did extremely well at the just ended Junior Idol World. They gave it their all and left a mark that will be remembered,” said Matheakgomo. “We are proud of how they carried themselves and represented Botswana with pride.”
Their achievements mark a significant milestone for Botswana’s presence in international children’s pageants, and their success is expected to inspire other young talents across the nation. As these five girls return home with crowns, medals, and global recognition, they serve as powerful role models and ambassadors for the next generation of dreamers.
