“Bring it on” -UDC to Khato Civils

The Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) is not shaken by Khato Civils threat to sue, the party indicated in a Media Release.

This follows a Media Release by Khato Civils which demanded the UDC to retract their remarks against the company, and apologize for denting its image as well as that of its chairman.

“It is demanded that the same produce the evidence, within ten (10) days of the release hereof. In the event of failure so to do, the aggrieved shall take advise on legal recourse, to vindicate their names. The aggrieved are content to appear before court, should the Umbrella For Democratic Change so elect, to answer to any civil claim or criminal accusation.” the company demanded in their statement recently.

The UDC had accused Khato Civils of being corrupt, meddling into Botswana politics, and pushing Botswana Democratic Party’s political agendas. The remarks followed Mr. Simbi Phiri’s words where he said opposition members lied in an effort to block the Masama-Mmamashia project.

On their statement responding to Khato Civils demands, the UDC wrote;

“Following an unprovoked and mischievous attack on the opposition by Simbi Phiri of Khato Civils in a recent media interview, the UDC issued a statement in response early this week. The company then launched further attacks on the UDC and threatened to sue. This morning on Gabz FM the same company was ranting and attacking us.

We would like to put in on record that we have noted and welcome their decision to go to court. We accordingly advise the company to forward their papers to Duma Boko Attorneys, Plot 21109, Village. That is if they are still minded to go to court. We would also like to advise the Media that we wont be taking any interviews as we await Khato Civils Court papers. Statements will be issued as and when the need arises.”
