Top 10 Sportsmen Of 2015!

Sports bring people of all sorts together. We have been able to unite as a nation and rally behind our stars as they represented us both at national and international level. We take a look at 10 outstandi ng men who has pushed against all odds to put Botswana on the map and make names for themselves. We salute the following heroes.

1. Nijel Amos.

Nijel Carlos is our starΒ middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800 metres discipline. He represented Botswana at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He is one of the best sportsmen to emerge out of the country.

2. Mohamed Otukile.

Light flyweight boxer, Mohamed Otukile has grabbed a gold medal for Botswana, last year defeating Ethiopia’s Feysel Mohamed. iLast weekend he scooped two awards at the 2014/2015 boxing awards held in Gaborone.

3. Karabo Sibanda

Karabo Sibanda is going to be a big name as far as athletics are concerned.Β He clocked the eighth-fastest time of the year in the men’s youth 400 metres to claim the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games title.

4. Joel Mogorosi.

Joel Mogorosi has played in the competitive South African Premier Soccer League for Β Bloemfontein Celtic and also represent us in the Botswana national team. He is currently with local team Township Rollers. He is noted for his fast play and quick feet.

5. Segolame Boy.

Segolame Smarh Boy has earned the reputation of the most feared Attacking midfielder in the Botswana Premier League due to his quick pace, shot accuracy and mazy moves. It is obvious why he is highly regarded by his fellow teammates in Rollers as well as in the National Team

6. Tsotso Ngele.

Botswana National team player Tsotso Ngele continues to make the country proud in football.Β Ngele signed with Sundowns last year, but spent the 2014/15 season on loan at Dikwena. The talented player previously played for Township Rollers.

7. Zac

The owner of Zac construction continues to be a major player in our sports fratenity, as if sponsoring Gaborone United with over 3 million pula was not enough, he has also contributed towards the Matsha trust fund.

8. Diphetogo Selolwane.

Diphetogo “Dipsy” Selolwane is a former Botswana football midfielder who also played for South African Premier Soccer League club University of Pretoria. He has played as a striker in Major League Soccer. He remains a sports icon in Botswana.

9. Mogogi Gabonamong.

Mogogi Gabonamong is a Botswana football defensive midfielder and defender for South African Premier Soccer League club Bloemfontein Celtic and Botswana. In 2011, Mogogi was the highest paid athlete from Botswana at $354,000.

10. Ofentse Nato.

The biggest size in the country has alsoΒ Ofentse Nato playedΒ as a midfielder for South African Premier Soccer League club Mpumalanga Black Aces on loan form Bidvest Wits, and Botswana. He is now back home playing for Gaborone United.
