Kentse Oupa Batsima is an Animal Health Practitioner, livestock consultant, author, and entrepreneur who is shaping practical solutions in agriculture through innovation, education, and hands-on farming experience. His work focuses on improving livestock productivity and supporting farmers with systems that are simple, effective, and grounded in real farm conditions. Over the years, he has built a reputation for combining academic knowledge with field experience to solve everyday challenges faced by farmers. His journey reflects determination, resilience, and a clear focus on agricultural transformation in Botswana. Today, he stands as a growing voice in modern farming systems that prioritize sustainability and data-driven decision-making.

His agricultural journey began in 2017 while he was studying at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, known as BUAN. During this time, he founded Kid and Lamb Farms using proceeds from his first book allowance, starting with just two goats. This small beginning became the foundation of a livestock enterprise built on patience and gradual growth. He used his student experience to test practical farming methods while continuing his studies. This early phase of his journey laid the groundwork for his future in livestock development and agricultural entrepreneurship.

After completing his studies in 2020, Kentse focused on expanding his farming ambitions through youth development funding opportunities. He faced setbacks in 2021 and 2022 when his applications were unsuccessful, but he remained committed to his vision. In 2023, he secured P100,000 in funding, which marked a turning point in his farming operations. The funding allowed him to significantly expand his livestock herd and improve farm infrastructure. Despite this progress, he continued to face challenges such as drought conditions and pressures from communal grazing systems, which affected production stability.

To adapt to these challenges, Kentse restructured his farming operations and made strategic changes to improve efficiency. He relocated from Katswane lands to Mohage lands in the Molepolole area to secure better grazing conditions and manage his livestock more effectively. He also introduced improved systems, including proper farm fencing and controlled livestock management practices. These changes helped reduce losses and improve overall herd performance. His approach demonstrated a practical understanding of how environmental and land-use factors impact livestock farming in rural areas.

In 2023, Kentse Oupa Batsima expanded his professional work by co-founding Veterinary Consultants with his friend Botshelo Lekaka. The business focused on providing livestock health and advisory services to farmers, aiming to bridge the gap between veterinary knowledge and practical farm needs. Although the partnership lasted for one year, the experience contributed significantly to his professional growth. After the partnership ended, Kentse redirected his focus toward developing livestock record-keeping systems. This shift marked the beginning of what would later evolve into a more advanced agricultural technology solution.

His continued work in livestock data management led to the development of the Pedigree Agri platform, which focuses on improving record-keeping and decision-making in farming. The platform is designed to help farmers track livestock performance, breeding records, and overall farm productivity. It emphasizes data-driven farming, where decisions are guided by accurate records rather than assumptions. This innovation reflects his belief that modern agriculture must combine traditional knowledge with technology. The platform represents a step toward improving efficiency and sustainability in livestock farming.

In 2026, Kentse achieved two major milestones that marked a significant advancement in his career. He officially registered Pedigree Agri as a formal platform aimed at transforming agricultural practices through technology and practical field experience. In the same year, he published his book titled I Thought of My Beloved Farmers, which draws from his passion for educating and empowering farmers. The book focuses on practical agricultural insights and motivational guidance for those involved in farming. These achievements reflect his commitment to both knowledge sharing and technological innovation in agriculture.

The official launch of both the book and the Pedigree Agri platform took place on 11 April 2026. The event was led by Professor Mosepele, Vice Chancellor of BUAN, under the theme “Where Agribusiness Meets Innovation: The Future Grows Better.” The launch highlighted the connection between academic institutions, innovation, and practical farming solutions. It also showcased the importance of supporting young agricultural entrepreneurs who are developing solutions for real-world challenges. The event marked an important recognition of Kentse’s contribution to modern agriculture.

Today, Kentse Oupa Batsima continues to focus on bridging the gap between traditional farming methods and modern agricultural systems. His work supports farmers in improving productivity, sustainability, and profitability through better management practices and digital tools. He remains committed to developing solutions that are practical and accessible to farmers at different levels. His journey reflects continuous learning, adaptation, and innovation in the agricultural sector. Through his combined roles as practitioner, consultant, author, and entrepreneur, he continues to influence the future of farming in a meaningful and practical way.
