Khama and Ookeditse Co-opted to the BPF NEC

The newcomer- Lawrence Ookeditse and Tshekedi Khama- the brother to the party’s patron (Seretse Khama Ian Khama) have been promoted to Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) National Executive committee (NEC).

Announcing the appointment of the two, the party President- Biggie Ganda Butale asserted, β€œPursuant to Clause 15 of the Botswana Patriotic Front Constitution which establishes a National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party and provides for its composition, and in particular its section 15.8, which provides for co-optation of member (s) whenever a vacancy exists; we are proud to announce an NEC decision for the co-optation of Hon. Tshekedi Khama and Mr. Lawrence Ookeditse as members of our National Executive Committee with immediate effect.”

The two positions have became vacant owing to the unfortunate demise of the BPF’s founding Secretary General Mrs. Roseline Panzirah-Matshome, and former Publicity Secretary- Mr. Justice Motlhabane’s persuence of a career in the civil service.

Justifying the two’s merits for the positions they have been appointed to, Butale highlighted, β€œWe are pleased to share with party members and stakeholders that Honorable Khama has been co-opted as Secretary General of the party while Mr. Ookeditse is Secretary for Information and Publicity. The two are in their own rights distinguished players in our politics over the years and we are most delighted to have them accept the sacred responsibility of being in the leadership of the BPF.”

β€œI wish to personally congratulate the two on their elevation to the leadership of our party and wish them well in the discharge of their duties. The NEC and indeed our members look forward to their leadership and support as we put in the hard work to remove a government that has completely lost direction and replace it with a truly inclusive government formed by our opposition parties.” He concluded.
