Mabutsane, Botswana — This morning, the Minister of Water and Human Settlement, Hon. Onneetse Ramogapi, visited Mabutsane to evaluate the ongoing progress of the Bonno Turn Key House project under the Bonno National Housing Program. The visit marks a significant step in the government’s ongoing commitment to improving access to quality housing across Botswana.

The Bonno Turn Key House project, currently underway in various parts of the country, aims to deliver ready-to-occupy homes that are both affordable and sustainable. Minister Ramogapi’s visit focused on assessing the quality of construction, community impact, and overall implementation efficiency in Mabutsane—a rural locality where housing development is crucial for uplifting living standards.

“The Bonno National Housing Program is not a one-size-fits-all approach,” said Hon. Ramogapi during his inspection. “It encompasses a variety of housing schemes tailored to meet the diverse needs of our population, from low-income families to special groups such as the elderly and people living with disabilities.”

The Turn Key House model is a cornerstone of the program, offering fully constructed homes complete with essential amenities. It is designed to accelerate housing delivery by removing barriers such as land acquisition, construction delays, and access to building expertise. For many families, it represents a direct pathway to dignified living conditions.

In Mabutsane, residents have welcomed the initiative with optimism. The new homes are expected to enhance community stability, support social development, and stimulate local economic activity through job creation and service provision.

Minister Ramogapi emphasized that housing development is not only about providing shelter but also about promoting equity, dignity, and opportunity. He urged local contractors and government teams to maintain high standards of quality and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.

The Bonno National Housing Program aligns with the broader national agenda of inclusive growth and sustainable development. As implementation continues across different regions, the Ministry of Water and Human Settlement remains focused on bridging housing gaps, especially in underserved communities.

Today’s visit underscores the government’s hands-on approach to monitoring progress and ensuring that development initiatives translate into meaningful change for citizens on the ground.
