Minister Segokgo To Participate At The ITU Plenipotentiary Conference In Bucharest In Romania

Honourable Thulagano Merafe Segokgo, Minister of Communications, Knowledge, and Technology, travelled to Bucharest, Romania to attend the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference which will be held from the 24th September to 2nd October 2022.
The conference is the highest decision-making body of the Union which is convened every four years to consider, among other things, Strategic Plan of the Union, budget, report of the council and elect office bearers. Among other topics of interest to the African group include calling ITU to support digital transformation to usher in a rapid transition to a digital economy while accelerating innovation in Africa.
The conference will be attended by Heads of States, Ministers and other policy level decision making representatives. The Minister is expected to deliver the country’s policy statements highlighting progress the country has made to achieve meaningful universal connectivity. He will also participate in electing officials guided by the country’s interests. The conference will culminate into Final Acts which are binding to Member States.
The Honourable Minister will lead a delegation comprising senior government officials and the Botswana Communications and Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) Executives.
