Compensation For Foot and Mouth increased

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Botswana Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi revealed to North East farmers that Government will increase their cattle compensation from P2 480.00 to P3 000.00. He said this when addressing a Kgotla meeting on Wednesday, 26 October 2022 in Senyawe Village, North East.

In his address, President Masisi explained to residents and farmers that the compensation applies to all types of cattle no matter the breed, age or gender. He further explained that North East farmers will get compensation plus the amount made from the sales of their cattle.

His Excellency expounded that all farmers will be given 10 cattle each by the Government, and those with more than 10 from their kraals will be compensated 30% in cattle units and 70% in cash (3 000.00 per cattle).

President Masisi explained that the whole procedure will be fully explained on paper for farmers to understand how the final compesation was calculated.

The President’s address was broadcasted live in 8 villages also affected by the Foot and Mounth disease that recently hit the area.
