MORUPISI FULL OF PRAISE FOR BPF

Former Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP), Carter Nkatla Morupisi is seeking a political home at the Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF), he declared his interest through a letter to the Secretary General of BPF dated the 3rd of February 2021.

Morupisi has served in the public service for close to four (4) decades. When he evicted office last year he was the Head of public service- Permanent Secretary to the President and to the cabinet, the position he held for at least five (5) years. He ceased the position due to corruption charges which he and his wife are still wrestling with at the courts of law. His Wife- Pinny Morupisi who is a councillor for Lecheng/Malaka Ward under Lerala Maunatlala constituency has recently jumped ship from Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) to BPF.

β€œI Carter Nkatla Morupisi resident of Malaka village hereby apply for membership of Botswana Patriotic Front Party” reads the letter, β€œDuring the last five (5) years of my service I was Head of the public service, a position which among other responsibilities provide an interface between the public service and political leadership.”

Morupisi says he is seeking the membership of the BPF as he believes the party has a development agenda, β€œIt’s time to join an institution (Political Party) that promises to provide a transmission belt with a development agenda that connects citizens with political power and decision making.”

He is following on the footsteps of other cabinet members who joined the party; Moiseraele Goya who recently defected, BPF founding President Biggie Butale, its Patron former President of Botswana- Seretse Khama Ian Khama, and Tshekedi Khama among others. Other former cabinet members who are expected to defect from the ruling BDP to BPF include Nonofo Molefhi and Thapelo Olopeng among others.

BPF has since became a home for disgruntled BDP members who have fallen out of favour with the party leadership
