Mzansi Magic premieres thrilling new Monday night primetime drama, Isifiso

The show’s impressive cast includes Nelisa Mchunu, Sjava, Melusi Yeni, Zinhle Mabena and Ntando Mncube

‘Jealousy makes you nasty’, as the saying goes, but can it make you murderous? Mzansi Magic’s star-studded new show, premiering on 4 July, explores sibling rivalry gone wrong – and it’s bound to be a Monday night crowd favourite.

Isifiso is about a woman living under her younger sister’s shadow, envying her seemingly-perfect life – but not all is what it seems, as she quickly and tragically learns. The 13-part drama series is produced by Match Point Productions.

The drama’s lead cast is as impressive as its premise: Nelisa Mchunu (Isibaya, Isithembiso); Melusi Yeni (The Wild); Ntando Mncube (The Wife) and Zinhle Mabena (Isibaya). Its supporting cast includes both familiar and fresh faces, such as Duduzile Ngcobo, Bandile Maphalala, award-winning musician Sjava and Nkosinathi Kheswa.

“Monday nights on Mzansi Magic are known and loved for bringing thrilling dramas that keep viewers intrigued, week after week. We’re glad to keep this slot dynamic and of a high standard, and Isifiso is the latest show that we trust will resonate with our viewers. It’s fantastic that DStv Compact subscribers will get in on the action from the get-go,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.

She continues: “We’re bringing new shows that feature known faces while also unearthing new talent – it’s a good balance of keeping actors’ careers growing and opening up the industry, all while carrying on with our mission as Africa’s best storyteller.”

Filled with shocking twists, betrayal and greed, Isifiso is the story of Bazothini (played by Mchunu), a woman who only wants the approval of her mother and those around her, and will stop at almost nothing to get it.

After a tragedy, Bazothini can now live her dream life, but is the grass really greener on the other side? Will Bazothini get her happily ever after? You’ll have to tune in to find out.

Don’t miss the deliciously thrilling Isifiso, Mondays at 20h00 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161), premiering on 4 July.
