HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT TO ATTEND THE 36TH ORDINARY SESSION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT OF THE AFRICAN UNION

His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, will attend the 36th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, on 18th-19th February 2023.

The Summit will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the theme: “Acceleration of the AFCFTA implementation”. Among others, the Summit will consider reports on the peace and security situation in Africa; global food crisis; the AU’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the African continental free trade area. His Excellency the President, will also have bilateral engagements on the margins of the Summit.

The Summit will be preceded by the Ministerial 42nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council which will take place on 15th-16th February 2023. Botswana will be represented at the Session by Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

His Excellency the President will be accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Neo Jane Masisi; Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Honourable Mr. Mmusi Kgafela, Minister of Trade and Industry and Senior Government Officials.
