President Duma Boko received high international recognition at the prestigious World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) President’s Meeting, where he was honoured with a distinguished award for his unwavering advocacy of natural diamonds. The event, which brings together key industry leaders and global stakeholders, celebrated Botswana’s influential role in the global diamond value chain.

In his acceptance speech, President Boko expressed heartfelt gratitude and dedicated the award to the people of Botswana. “This is not just a personal recognition—it belongs to every Motswana. Our nation’s journey is deeply connected to the story of natural diamonds,” he said, highlighting the collective efforts of Batswana in shaping the country’s diamond legacy.

President Boko emphasized that natural diamonds are more than a resource—they represent Botswana’s heritage, resilience, and progress. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting and promoting the value of natural diamonds, not only as a cornerstone of the economy but also as a symbol of authenticity and cultural identity.

“Our diamonds carry more than economic worth. They reflect the human stories behind every carat—stories of dignity, empowerment, and national pride,” he said.

Botswana remains one of the world’s leading producers of high-quality natural diamonds, and its partnership with the global diamond industry has played a pivotal role in national development. From funding infrastructure to supporting healthcare and education, the diamond sector continues to transform lives across the country.

President Boko’s participation at the WFDB meeting further underscored Botswana’s strategic position in advocating for sustainable, transparent, and ethical diamond practices. His award was seen as a testament to the country’s leadership in preserving the integrity of the natural diamond market in an era of growing demand for traceability and accountability.

The World Federation of Diamond Bourses lauded Botswana for setting a global example in responsibly managing natural resources and ensuring that communities benefit meaningfully from their natural wealth.

As the world looks to the future of the diamond industry, President Boko’s recognition sends a powerful message: that natural diamonds, when stewarded with care and purpose, can remain a force for good—economically, culturally, and humanely.
