“SKI Khama Foundation issue was a scam” – Tsogwane

His Honor the Vice President Slumber Tsogwane says the SKI Khama Foundation’s contacts were nothing but a scam. Speaking today in the national assembly, Tsogwane said the contacts went silent while the manufacturers denied any knowledge of them.

“Ministry of Health has been communicating with vaccine manufacturers. Regarding SKI Khama Foundation’s contacts, that one is not legitimate. Vaccine manufacturers denied knowing them, even the prices they quoted were too high. There is nothing worth noting about that issue, it was just a scam.” Tsogwane rebuked.

The Vice President was answering a question about the four million (4 million) vaccines which were supposedly secured by SKI Khama Foundation. According to the correspondence from the foundation, Two million (2 million) Pfizer, and Two million (2 million) AstraZeneca vaccines were secured from KKM Global Healthcare Group. The said Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) vaccines offer was valid only for five (5) days from the date of the offer.

Meanwhile, Interpol has issued out a warning about COVID-19 vaccines scams. The Interpol notes that scammers are out to deceive countries which are in desperate hunt for COVID-19 vaccines. The warning, Interpol says, follows Sixty (60) cases in Forty (40) countries around the world. It is reported that individuals in health ministries and hospitals have received offers for COVID-19 vaccines approved for distribution in their country.

It is said that the scammers usually claim to represent a vaccine manufacturer or a government agency facilitating the distribution of vaccines.

β€œAs we see with cybercrime, usually it is the private sector which has the most information about attacks and trends, which is exactly what has happened with these attempted vaccine scams. With the ongoing pandemic and efforts of countries to safely and quickly vaccinate their citizens, it is vital that the roll-out process is protected from manufacture to delivery.” Secretary General of Interpol, JΓΌrgen Stock warned.
