HIS EXCELLENCY DR. MASISI ADDRESSES THE ROUNDTABLE BREAKFAST DISCUSSION HOSTED BY THE CORPORATE COUNCIL ON AFRICA (CCA)

His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi has congratulated the Nigerian people for the peaceful and smooth transfer of power to the newly inaugurated President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu ,the presence of Botswana delegation in Abuja to attend the inauguration ceremony is a clear demonstration of our resolve to strengthen bilateral relations with one of Africa’s leading economic powerhouses, it is our wish to maintain and grow the socio-economic ties that exist between our two countries.”

President Masisi stated that “Although Botswana and Nigeria enjoy cordial relations, our investment and trade dealings are at a very low level. For Example, in 2022, Botswana exported goods to Nigeria worth Five Hundred and Forty Six Thousand U.S. Dollars (US$546,000) while imports from Nigeria were valued at Ninety Two Thousand U.S. Dollars (US$92,000). The main exports from Botswana to Nigeria in the last 2 years has been whole hides and skins while imports from Nigeria comprised mainly essential oils. These statistics indicate a very low level of trade between our countries and it is my wish to see us improving our trade volumes”.
