His Excellency, Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana and His Excellency Mr. Alar Karis, President of the Republic of Estonia, addressed a joint press briefing following their official talks this morning.

Briefing the media, His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi highlighted that he and his counterpart had agreed to strengthen and revitalize joint relations between the two countries. Dr. Masisi stated that areas of education are to be prioritized and that Botswana will harness and yield from the excellent performance of Estonia in the digital and ICT space.

In response, His Excellency Mr Alar Karis, stated that his Country admires Botswana’s national vision, citing that Estonia’s first Africa strategy adopted in 2020 set Botswana as a development partner. Mr Karis said that he was impressed to learn about Botswana’s e-education, e-morbidity, e-commerce, and the village connectivity project which will promote democracy and good governance.
