It’s official—Police XI, famously known as The Jungle Kings, are roaring back into the First National Bank (FNB) Premier League. After a fiercely contested 2024/2025 First Division South League campaign, the team was officially crowned champions on 29 May 2025 in Mmopane, following a decisive encounter with Holy Ghost Football Club.

As dawn broke over the Holy Ghost FC Grounds, golden sunlight poured over the pitch—an omen of triumph for the boys in gold. Clad in their iconic kit, The Jungle Kings stepped onto the field not just to compete, but to seal their return in ceremonial fashion. Though the match ended in a goalless draw, it was the result they needed. The mission was complete.

For head coach Padzayi Mandivenga and his technical team, this moment represented the culmination of grit, strategy, and a season of tireless work. Coach Mandivenga, who had vowed to bring back the glory days, delivered as promised.

“I commend Holy Ghost FC for their performance in this game. They pressed high, defended with determination, and gave us a tough final test, but we had a plan and stuck to it,” said Mandivenga in an interview with local media shortly after the match.

The match itself was a tactical battle. Both teams showcased defensive discipline, sharp awareness, and creative build-up, but neither side could break the deadlock. As the final whistle blew, the tension gave way to jubilation as Police XI confirmed their promotion.

The importance of the moment was not lost on the team’s leadership. The stands were filled with maroon and gold-clad supporters, joined by top-ranking police officials. Among them were Deputy Commissioners Solomon Mantswe (Support Services) and Katlholo Mosimanegape (Operations), who were present to witness the historic moment as team captain Kagiso Dithebe proudly lifted the championship trophy.

For the club’s management, led by Chairperson and Assistant Commissioner of Police Elizabeth Mamapilo, the day marked a redemptive close to a chapter that began with relegation and ended in triumph. It was a victory built on resilience, planning, and the unshakable belief of every player, coach, official, and fan.

The faithful supporters, who never gave up through thick and thin, played their part with unwavering loyalty. Their voices echoed through every fixture, becoming the wind beneath the wings of the Jungle Kings.

To the players—mission accomplished. Your performance was nothing short of superlative. To the rest of the FNB Premier League, take notice. The Jungle Kings are back, and they are not just here to compete—they’re here to conquer.
