“May the good Lord deliver us from Evil” – Ian Khama

Yesterday marked the day at which the 46th president of the United States of America (USA) and his vice were inaugurated. It is the same day that marked the end to Donald Trump’s short-lived tenure, as expected Botswana former president Ian Khama could not hide his excitement about Trump’s exit.

“Today marks the beginning of a new and a better era in America, where a legacy for the rebirth of democracy will take a centre stage, and people centered policies and programs will be fashioned for the well-being and benefit of the American people as well as for nature and our planet. The world too will be a better place without Trump and those like him.” Khama wrote.

Khama’s rivalry with Trump dates a while back when Khama was still president, it was triggered or perhaps fueled by Trump’s dirty remarks towards African states. Since then there has been cold blood between the two leaders.

He also congratulated Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. and his vice Kamala Harris, “Congratulations to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their resounding victory in a free and fair election. What an example for us and others to follow. The people of United States can look forward to a leadership that demonstrates compassion, dignity and outreach with unity. What lucky people! May the good Lord deliver us from evil!”.

Joe Biden served as a Vice President under Barrack Obama in 2009 to 2017, formerly he represented Delaware in United States senate from 1973 to 2009. In Kamala Harris, the USA has produced its first ever female Vice President.

In the meantime, there are speculations that Trump might be planning to form a new party which is hinted to be called the “Patriot Party” and contest presidency again. “Goodbye. We love you. We will be back in some form. Have a good life. We will see you soon.” He said in his farewell message.
