Tsabong District leadership and community members will come together tomorrow at the Tsabong main kgotla for a memorial service honoring the late Dr. Micus Chimbombi, the area’s former Member of Parliament and Minister of Lands and Agriculture. The service marks a solemn occasion for the district to bid farewell and pay tribute to a respected leader whose legacy has deeply influenced both the constituency and Botswana at large.

Dr. Chimbombi passed away peacefully on Saturday at Sedilega Hospital. Plans for his burial have been set for Sunday at his home village in Makopong, where family, friends, and well-wishers will gather to lay him to rest.

Tsabong District Commissioner, Mr. Levis Thupa, highlighted that the memorial service is a community-wide event. “The community is invited to come honor their Member of Parliament,” he said, underscoring the inclusive nature of the gathering. Mr. Thupa added that the event will be attended by various stakeholders, including local leaders, government representatives, and residents.

The memorial service will serve as a collective space for Tsabong residents to mourn the loss of Dr. Chimbombi while celebrating his immense contributions. As a dedicated public servant, Dr. Chimbombi played a vital role in advancing the development of Kgalagadi South and championed initiatives that benefited both his constituency and the nation.

His tenure as Minister of Lands and Agriculture was marked by efforts to promote sustainable land use and bolster Botswana’s agricultural sector—initiatives that continue to resonate with many.

As the community gathers to honor his memory, the legacy of Dr. Micus Chimbombi stands as a testament to committed leadership and service to the people of Botswana. The memorial service at Tsabong main kgotla will be a significant moment for reflection, unity, and respect for a leader who left a lasting impact.
