UNESCO Committee members of ICH unanimously agreed that Botswana should be the next host of the Intergovernmental Committee in 2023

In his acceptance Speech Hon Tumiso Rakgare stated that Botswana is a sparsely populated, land locked country backed by a stable democratic government referred to as “the success story of Africa “since independence in 1966 and continues to grow from strength to strength.

Rakgare emphasized that Botswana offers travellers a truly amazing and diverse safari and cultural experience with fascinating deserts,wetlands,wildlife and rich game reserves,the Okavango Delta and the Tsodilo Hills which are UNESCO’s heritage sites.

Hon Rakgare ended his remarks by expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the Committee for its benevolence by according Botswana the opportunity to host the next Intergovernmental Committee in 2023. He also congratulated the new Chairperson of the Committee,Ambassador of Botswana to France and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, His Excellency Mr Mustaq Moorad.

“Ladies and Gentlemen I wish to welcome you to my beautiful country Botswana in 2023,where you will experience warm hospitality from our people” Rakgare stated.
